A. In what precinct are residents of Fearrington or Galloway Ridge?
Fearrington and Galloway residents are in the West Williams Precinct of Chatham Co. and must be registered with the Chatham County Board of Registration before voting in the May 17 Primary.

C. Will there be a Democratic "blue ballot" for the May 17 Primary Election?
No. Democratic "blue ballots" are only provided for general elections. Since this is a primary election, the Democratic ballot only includes Democratic candidates and the Democratic Party can not endorse any of the candidates.

- Online or in person at a DMV office:
If you are an existing DMV customer with a DMV-issued license or ID, click here . . . to complete or update your registration online. - To register or update your registration by mail, click here . . . to download, complete, sign, and mail the NC Carolina Voter Registration application form in accordance with the instructions on the form. To register to vote in the May 17 Primary, the NC State Board of Elections or the Chatham County Board of Elections must receive your application form by April 22, 2022.

How do I vote by mail with an absentee ballot?
A. Who can vote by mail with an absentee ballot?
Any NC registered voter may request, receive, and vote a mail-in absentee ballot. No special circumstance or reason is required.
B. How do I request an absentee ballot for the May 17 Primary Election?
If you are a registered NC voter, there are several ways you can submit your request for an absentee primary ballot:
- To complete, sign, and submit online your Absentee Ballot Request form for the May 17 Primary, click here . . . The completed absentee ballot request form must be submitted online by 5:00 pm, Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
- Click here . . . to download, complete, sign, and submit your Absentee Ballot Request form by mail or dropped off in person by you or a near relative at the Chatham Co. Board of Elections office. Click here . . . for directions to Board of Elections office at 984 Thompson Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312. This PDF form must be downloaded, signed, and dated, and the paper copy received at the Chatham Co. Board of Elections by 5:00 pm, Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
- If you are visually impaired or have difficulty using online forms or printing related to requesting an absentee ballot, contact the Chatham Co. Board of Elections, (919) 545-8500, for assistance.
C. How do I receive my absentee ballot?
- Your absentee ballot must be mailed to you. You can not pickup the absentee ballot in person.
- Contact Chatham Co. Board of Elections, (919) 545-8500, if you do not receive your absentee ballot within a week after submitting your request.
D. How do I complete my absentee ballot?
To complete your absentee ballot, accurately follow the detailed instructions on the ballot:
- Mark your ballot in the presence of a notary public or two witnesses.
- Place you ballot in the return envelope that can with your ballot and seal the envelope. Do not put anything else in the envelope.
- Sign your name on the back of the envelope.
- Have your notary public or two witnesses sign the envelope.
E. How do I return my absentee ballot?
You can return your absentee ballot by either:
- Mailing the return envelope with the correct postage (58 cents or one Forever Stamp). Absentee ballots should be mailed a min. of three days before the Primary Election day to help ensure at arrives with a postmark on or before May 17.
- Or, you or your near relative may return your ballot in person to the Chatham Co. Board of Elections on or before 5:00 pm Election Day May 17. You may also return your completed absentee ballot to any open Chatham Co. One-Stop Early Voting place, but NOT on Election Day May 17 when the early voting sites will be closed.
F. How do I track the status of my absentee ballot?

From Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, May 14, Chatham Co. has five One-Stop Early Voting sites where residents may cast a Primary Election vote, and, if necessary, register to vote then cast a Primary Election vote.
