ACLU of NC
The ACLU of North Carolina is the North Carolina state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU of NC was founded in 1965, is based in Raleigh, and has grown to approximately 10,000 members and supporters statewide. Its mission is to preserve and defend the guarantees of individual liberty found in the North Carolina Constitution and the US Constitution, with particular emphasis on freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of religion, equal protection under law for all people, the right to privacy, the right to due process of law, and the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure.
Chatham Organizing for Racial Equality (CORE)
CORE is a multi-racial group of Chatham residents who work together toward our vision of a more equitable and integrated Chatham County Community.
Chatham Voices for Justice
Chatham Voices for Justice is an informal network that keeps Chatham County informed about local progressive activities and groups.
Common Cause North Carolina
Common Cause North Carolina is dedicated to strengthening democracy and making government more open, honest and accountable and seeks to curb undue special interest influence, promote ethics in government, and connect underrepresented voters to the democratic process.
Democracy NC
Democracy North Carolina is the state’s most respected source of impartial data on the role of money in politics, voter participation, and good government. Democracy North Carolina is one of the few advocacy groups in our state to maintain an on-the-ground grassroots organizing presence every year, all year round.
Hispanic Liaison
The Hispanic Liaison is a support and advocacy program for the Hispanic community in Chatham County and surrounding counties. Its mission is to foster intercultural understanding and to empower Hispanics to overcome the challenges they face and make their voices heard in the community.

In cooperation with Indivisible Guide and MoveOn, this group was organized by Fearrington resident Nancy Jacobs to have an effect in resisting Trump's agenda.
League of Women Voters of Orange-Durham-Chatham
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. It does not support candidates or political parties, but influences public policy through education and advocacy. Through its web-based Vote411 program it provides information about how and where to vote as well as unfiltered information from candidates
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America
Moms Demand Action is the grassroots action arm of Everytown for Gun Safety. It was created to demand action from legislators - state and federal - companies and educational institutions to establish common-sense gun reforms to end the epidemic of gun violence.
MoveOn.org/Democracy in Action
MoveOn is the largest independent, progressive, digitally-connected organizing group in the United States. Launched in 1998, MoveOn pioneered online organizing and advocacy techniques that have become standard in politics, nonprofits, and industry in the U.S. and worldwide. MoveOn supports Indivisible (see above) with phone training.
NC Justice Center
The NC Justice Center works through seven projects that provide expertise in the major policy areas impacting poor and working North Carolinians: Workers’ Rights, Education and Law, Consumer Protection and Housing, Health Access, Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and NC Policy Watch. The Justice Center uses a five-strategy approach of litigation, public policy advocacy, research, community outreach, and communications.
NC NAACP
Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. The North Carolina Conference of NAACP Branches is 70 years old this year and is made up of over 100 Adult, Youth and College NAACP units across the state. The NC NAACP convenes the more the 150 members of the Historic Thousands on Jones Street (HKonJ) Peoples Assembly Coalition and is the architect of the Moral Monday & Forward Together Movement. https://hkonj.com

This highly-organized group of local activists is focused on developing a corps of engaged, informed volunteer activists to elect Democrats to the NC General Assembly and to work on other issues of concern to progressives, such as fair redistricting maps and fair voting laws.
Progress NC Action
Progress NC Action was founded in 2011 to promote public policies and political education to make NC a fairer, healthier, more equitable state and to advocate solutions to critical community problems. Progress NC Action monitors the statewide political landscape and raises the visibility of issues that affect the quality of life in this state. They publicize developments quickly and let the public know about action steps to take.
Southern Coalition for Social Justice
The Southern Coalition for Social Justice was founded in August 2007 in Durham, North Carolina by a multidisciplinary group, predominantly people of color, who believe that families and communities engaged in social justice struggles need a team of lawyers, social scientists, community organizers and media specialists to support them in their efforts to dismantle structural racism and oppression. SCSJ lawyers have represented the plaintiffs in some of the most important NC redistricting cases.
You Can Vote
You Can Vote is a grassroots coalition working to inform citizens of their right to vote and to help them overcome recently legislated barriers to voting in North Carolina. They train and mobilize volunteers to educate, register, and empower all North Carolina citizens to successfully cast their ballot. Volunteers learn best practices on voter registration and engagement to help citizens navigate North Carolina voting requirements. They provide communities with: Training, Materials, Organizing tools, Lists of volunteers / volunteer recruitment, Communication tools and outreach assistance, and more.
